To conformity in five steps.
01
Identify standards
Which EMC standards apply to the product, market and industry (EU: EMVG/CE; possibly FCC, GB/CCC)?
02
Pre-compliance
Measure throughout development, find causes, build up margin — in our own fully-anechoic chamber.
03
Implement measures
Specifically adjust layout, shielding, filters, installation or software behavior.
04
Accredited test
The formal conformity assessment takes place at an accredited/notified body.
05
CE marking
The manufacturer declares conformity and affixes the CE mark.
Frequently asked questions
What does the CE marking confirm with regard to EMC?
That the product complies with the relevant EMC standards and the EMC Directive. EMC is only one part of CE conformity; depending on the product, further directives apply as well.
Does pre-compliance help to pass the final test?
Yes — it significantly reduces the risk of failing the expensive accredited test. More under pre-compliance explained.
