Understanding EMC problems — and solving them systematically.

EMC problems show up as unstable signals, communication errors, unexpected behavior or a limit value exceeded during testing. The good news: they usually have a few, clearly localizable causes.

How EMC problems arise

Typical roots are an unfavorable PCB layout, missing or inadequate shielding, unsuitable cable routing and connectors, as well as high switching frequencies and fast signal edges. Interference is coupled capacitively, inductively, as a wave through the air or conducted via cables.

How we proceed

  • Reproduce: first measurable, then solvable — in a pre-compliance setup.
  • Localize: find the cause, not the symptom (grounding, shield, filter, software).
  • Prioritize: the one or two most effective levers first.
  • Verify: secure the measure in the fully-anechoic chamber, with documented margin.

When external help makes sense

When a deadline or start of series production is under pressure, a fast, experienced root-cause analysis usually saves more than it costs.
